Yes, of course I understand that concept. People are willing to pay for a lot of shit, like hand jobs from strangers in random public restrooms, but that doesn't mean that you have to stoop to their level and provide the service.

No, you don't have to. But if your company seeks a reasonable rate of return then you make decisions to maximize profits. High-minded ideals are a rare business model in a capitalist economy. If they were more common in the auto industry Rolls Royce would never have made a convertible, Lamborghini/Porsche/Maserati/Bentley would never have made SUVs, and the Mustang would still be an ICE muscle car.

Well... if the hand jobs pay for dealers' staying in business for me, I'm all for that.

Saw four of these Friday into Saturday out in east Hampton and Montauk. All driven by very well dressed ladies.

Reminded me of the scene in Gone in Sixty Seconds when Nic Cage was at the Ferrari dealer complaining about how he sees too many 355s or whatever at Starbucks, so he wants a GTB. Probably bought bc the new Defenders are too passé.

Isn't the estimated range based on MPG over the last x miles? If you drove with enough additional efficiency the last time, I could see how the estimate could rise.

The drive was over the same path and same distance, however, the last one-half was uphill, with considerable elevation gain.
The Grenadier's fuel gauge reads high almost exactly to the same extent as old D1/RRC - when it shows 5/8 of a tank, it's about half a gallon to a gallon under one-half. It is moderately useful; I found that on the same routes I used to drive my older trucks, Grenadier is more fuel-efficient, including ~200-mile, 3-day Death Valley crossings. But in places I am not familiar with, I should definitely have a full jerry can along.

My guess for the Grenadier's funny remaining range estimates is short integration time, coupled with high variation in fuel consumption of the engine with variable displacement (turbo/supercharged). I'll ask my daughter and son-in-law if they found the D5's range estimate reliable.
