I just noticed this oil leak on the inside of the tire. (slung out in all directions on tire) I assume from the inner shaft seal, but also looks like leaking from swivel housing. My question is.... How far can I drive. I need to make it about 400 miles. I was thinking I could keep checking the temperature and add some grease or gear oil if necessary?

Looks like the leak is from your swivel ball.

FYI, mine have always leaked but I run 80-140w gear oil in them not the official grease.

I found what helped sealing was to go to the car wash and clean that ball up the best you can. You'res look quite dirty BTW.

Clean the balls at wash, then change the hub grease in case any water made it in. Plus then you know they're full again.

Not the hardest seal to change to do it right, but if cleaning helps, worth a try!

Looks like the swivel seal to me too. Best to do wheel bearings, hub seals, and housing to axle seals at the same time. I know on both hydro and servo RRCs you can move the brake caliper out of the way, but I dont remember if D1s have the same brake set up. It's time consuming but easy enough to do.

If you need to make it 400 miles shoot a full tube of the official grease into each hub (turn the wheel so the cup moves out of the fill hole's way). The grease leaks slower than gear oil. You should make it without issue. I've seen way worse build-up.

Are you Good People using high temperature grease or a multi-purpose grease?

Thank you all. Topped off both sides with heavier gear oil and made my 400 mile trip. It doesn't seem to be leaking any more and I don't have anymore long trips, so I'll wait until after winter to replace seals.
