Interior Bike Rack

This set-up works great for me. I can leave the bikes in the Rover while I am at work or while we go eat after a long ride. It is out of the way when not being used and with wing-nuts holding it in place it can be removed in a couple of minutes. If I plan on riding again in a day or two. I just leave the bikes in for a few days or even weeks.

What kind of hardware did you use to attach the mounts? I have the 7 passenger, do you think it will work with my seats? I have two racks on the top and is rather inconvienent at times to access, especially after riding.

The front wheels are are held by two "wheel forks" by yakama. I drilled holes into the wood floor panel behind the rear seats. Measure this location with the seats in their upright position. then they are bolted with the yakama supplied wing nuts on the bottom for quick removal.

The front forks of the bikes are held in place by fork mounts off of a old "Betty Jo" from yakama that i had in the garage. I filed the plastic parts down flat and drilled the holes in the wood tire-jack cover, then ran the yakama supplied screws through with wing nuts from ACE hardware for quick removal.

Why not just put them behind the thing on a hitch mounted thule or yakima swing away??? road bikes go inside muddy bikes go outside. then you can just hose them off on the rack too ;)

My buddy had a hitch mount from Thule. I had about 4 thousand dollars of bikes on it and the pin came out and he dragged the bikes for about 20 miles. So the short story is car insurance doesn't cover your bikes. I will always use my roof rack from now on.

The "pin" ?? User error can result in driving them into a low structure as well.

The swing away cannot put the bikes on the ground regardless of a pin.

I had over $13,000 in bikes on my last trip sitting there as solid as can be. Some types of insurance will cover them.

I dont think he put the swing away pin in correctly. It dipped down and dented my mt bike frame and ground down half the wheels down. It was crazy it ripped the tires and tubes off and only half the rim on each wheel was left.
