In 20 years, never had this issue and not sure what triggers them to come on. It is not the setting in the light itself. Does it sense a change at the door latch possibly?

The interior lights are controlled by the BCU. Check the connections at BCU aren’t corroded from water ingress. If no corrosion then ensure the connectors are securely fastened to the BCU.

What does the BCU see though, there are no door switches but they come on when the door is opened. Wondering if a bad door handle would be the issue, but not in the mood to dig into the door just yet.

It’s just a ground at the little plunger switch at the front of the door opening ( body side)
The wire is cut too short and has broken near that switch. Take the Philips head screw out and the switch will pull right out the hole. Broken wire probably hanging from the thing.
