Intermittent brake caliper sticking

What would be the possible cause/causes of an intermittently sticking brake caliper? The situation is the front drivers side caliper (only this one ever) will intermittently stick. By intermittent I mean every 2 months or so it will happen once. I have not touched the brakes as far as repair or replacing parts recently. The rotors are fine and the pads have plenty of meat left. The brake fluid reservoir is topped off. I will just be driving and either get to work or stop for gas and smell the brakes and the drivers side front wheel will be hot. I will be in a situation I cannot stop and take the wheel off and check out the brakes so I just pump the brakes a couple times and go on my way. Then when I get to wherever I'm going I will check on them and everything is fine.

Most often that is a sign the caliper is going bad. If that truck were here, with the story you have related, I would recommend two new front calipers and fresh fluid. There is always a slim possibility of trouble in the modulator but that is exceedingly rare.

I posted this yesterday because it happened when I got to work. And as usual it resolved on its own again. I did nothing (I couldn't) after I arrived at work yesterday. On the way home stopped for gas, everything was fine. Once I arrived home, everything still fine.

Just out of curiosity why would you replace both calipers? I was strongly considering replacing the driver side because it is a continuing thing.

I had the same issue and finally swapped both of the front calipers. New pads and fresh fluid, as well. It's braking like a champ now.
