Intermittent Cruise Problems

Got a weird problem with my cruise. It will intermittently turn off on the highway and then
will not re-engage. I did a vacuum test and all of the hoses are fine. Any suggestions? Is there a relay or something that I can check?

Thanks - Joe

cruise contrlol ecdu

My ecu would intermittently fail to function for about a year, and then stop working completely.

I did all the checks in rave (some tests are described wrong), and had no problems,

So I replaced the cruise ecu and haven't had a problem since (1 year/25,000 miles).

Mine has been doing the same thing and the dealer has been saying there is nothing wrong with it, only because the cruise never acts up when they take it for a spin.
How much does an ECU for the cruise cost?

Here's a troubleshooting guide

I wrote this up (adapted from an CD Manual) as a troubleshooting guide for the entire cruise control system. This was for my 98 D1, I think it works for as early as 96, but I'm not sure about after 98.

Good luck and HTH,

Kit
