The ACM kit sold by Land Rover improves the volume level of a connected device, such as an iPod, versus the offset volume of the satnav voice, but there is still a noticeable difference. This is a design fault of the LR3 infotainment system - I have the same issue on my RRS - since the volume of the navigation voice should be fixed (like the PTI / telephone volume), not an offset of the source's volume.
Don't know if it will help, but I find that turning on an equalization program in the iPod - there are several available - makes the music play a bit "louder" and therefore further reduces the difference between its playback volume and navigation instructions. Try it out if you haven't already.
Belkin makes a nifty charging adapter. It's got a small inline amplifier, even cranked all the way up it's not much but it helps increasing playback volume of the iPod, so your eardrums won't explode anymore when the lady starts giving your driving directions... You can then connect a 3.5mm patch cord between the provided jack on the Belkin and the one in your LR3. Of course, you'll lose the convenience of the steering wheel controls provided by LR's ACM, but it's an inexpensive alternative. See
