Pretty simple, looking to buy an lr3 and what I've found has everything I want minus the nav. Can I retrofit the factory unit? The nav is nice, but moreso I like the display of the active suspension and transmission settings.

Just buy a garmin and do not be a slave to the update DVDs. I do not miss the nav screen in mine. The control center under the speedo tells me the wheel position. Just use it and have fun! It is a 1000 dollar add- on.

x2. The Nav isn't all that great, and for a third of the price, you can getter better, newer, faster from Garmin, Magallen, etc... I really like the cubby for holding stuff, and would not want the nav system taking up the room!

Don't know about the retro fitting question, I found it lacking, so mine now has DVD, Garmin Nav, Bluetooth, USB, Ipod, Sirus, Video Game imputs, Backseat Video, HD Radio, and plays my photos as a screen saver.

And yes the factory steering wheel remote still works.

What Garmin system is this that you have? that looks 10000X better than the factory unit.

mine is a GVN53, under the front seat where the factory amp used to be. Everything else was supplied by Kenwood. For the faceplate, I took the factory radio and removed all of the buttons and guts leaving just the factory plastic cover, then useing resin and fiberglass filler, filled in the holes, then cut out the shape of the Kenwood unit and painted.

Left room to add light switchs on each side of the radio, thats coming soon.
