No pics..sorry guys..
This isn't really Tech either.. but I figured you might be the best for the advice! Thanks!

I just came from a guys house..he's selling an 87 RRC...gutted. No drivetrain..no interior..no electronics. All that's there is a powercoated frame, 2 axles (complete), floorpan, and body (complete and in near perfect condition.

Story is he bought it, gutted it and was gonna mod the engine bay and suspension for a 502 and make it a ..well.. a hillbilly plaything. The body is super solid and paint is new. Guess his wife got tired of ..whatever he was into..and bailed, so now he's trying to sell this. He's asking $500..which seems a lot high to me. Question is..this could be a fun project, but do you think it can be brought to semi-trail worthy for under 3K total? I know that's not gonna get much, I'd just be looking to get it mobile...and a few bucket seats. This would be a dedicated trail rig.

Ideas? Is this to much for a rolling body? Normally I say yes, but, it is a LR....

Thanks!

stock axles, diffs, & hubs. They look to be complete, but will still require taking apart and rebuilding...at least it prolly should be done while it's in this phase...

You can buy a beater that runs for like 1000 transfer parts over. but at that point y not just build the beater up if its going to be for trail only who cares about the body.
unless your looking for a pretty trail truck thats going to get banged up. I would leave it for the guy that wants to restore or someone with a built up truck thats rolled or rusted in half.

thats just my thoughts.

The axle's would need rebuilt with upgraded parts, the stock ones would only be 10 splines.

I would venture a guess that you would probably end up having over 3k in it to make it a capable rig. Unless you pick up a running donor truck for cheap.

Offering to take it away for free sounds more like it. I got a complete 88 RRC for free by simplying taking it out of someones driveway. I am working on it now - body is perfect, bit rusty on the bottom. Chances are no-one will buy it, and a month from now he'll be calling you to come get it.
