Is my Tr**** Gone?

Well my 01 DII was driving just fine until the other day. I was driving down Lake Shore Drive when I experienced a loss of power. I was driving about 50-55MPH in 3 when I loss power and had to hit the gas to keep my speed. The engine/drivetrain sounded like it was laboring just to get up a small hill ( a real low sounding growl). I couldn't get the truck up to that speed again. I have NO lights on. I have serviced the Tr**** at 25K & 50K. Plan on checking the fluid level in the morning

I recently had a new front driveshaft installed, Could this make a difference? (It was driving just find after the intial install.

I installed new plugs and wires a month ago and checked my connections and they seem fine. The truck idles and drives fine. I just can't go above 45MPH without it struggling.

If my transmission is messed up would a light come on?

ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Same thing happened to me...loss of power, would barely move when i pressed on the gas and it was the tranny. But check the transmission fluid first.

Well the transmission is toast. Does anybody in the chicago area know of a good shop? Or does anyone have a web site where I could purchase one. Thanks
