Is the glass "Half Full", or "Half Empty"?

I've decided to end this debate once and for all. If you are in the process of filling a glass, but stop halfway, it is half-full. If you are in the process of DRAINING said liquid and stop halfway, it is half-empty. The correct usage of the terms half-full and half-empty are circumstantially dependent.

Hah, take THAT, philosophy! :victory:

You claim to have answered an age old question but you have not. You have merely ignored the circumstances in the original question and replaced them with your own. You then answered your own question with the facts that you provided.

Typical liberal. If you cannot make a judgement call based on your feelings and what you believe then change the question until it can be answered with your own facts. Then take credit for being smarter than the person asking the question that you have not answered.

A conservative response would be... Who in the hell left this glass of water on the table instead of washing it out and putting it away.

Ahhh Shit. One of the Rupps chimed in. Now we will be discussing the quality of the water and where to get better water. It won't matter how much water is in the glass. The only things that will matter are the quality of said water and the make up of the drinking vessel.

This depends on the nature of observation.

Of one person sees it as half full, his perception is that it is half full, and so it is half full.

If another person sees it as half empty, his perception is that it is half empty, and so it is half empty.

If the glass is neither observed nor interacted with in any fashion we understand, than the glass is both half full and half empty. It is also an elephant.

Cheers,

If a glass of water is knocked over in a forest, and nobody is around to hear it, do I still have to clean it up?

...and rather than make a separate post to address the postcount whore accusations, I'll remind everyone in THIS post that I'm a full-time dad who has an iphone, and I get a tremendous amount of enjoyment from this forum.

...that and I only have a 2 year old to talk to all day. This is pretty much all the adult conversation I have all day. ...if you can call it adult. ;)

How do you ignore an elephant in the room??? You talk about the water on the table.

How does one clean up a small water spill from the floor of a forest, anyways?

This assumes you know what that 'process' is, as you refer to it. The 'age old question' doesnt. Neither answers nor amuses. Band width whore, like 99.99% of your count. Just keeping it real.

This.
Is.
Priceless.

And succinctly sums up the current political and human existence.

Would one's like or dislike of the liquid in the said glass have any effect on the view of the argument? (i.e. if the beverage is not liked its half empty, etc.)
