I just found out my BIL is getting stationed in Vicenza, Italy next year. While my wife was upset with the news I instantly started to think this is my chance to get a diesel rover. Would these be rust buckets in Italy?

Not necessarily. When I visited Sardinia last year there were loads of 300TDI Discos and Defenders still ticking. A few looked like they suffered from years of neglect, but not rust. Also, keep in mind that you don't need a family connection in another country to import an old Rover.

That is true. But it makes it easier because I can send family to look at it if I find one that I like.
