It's that time of the month.

You know that time of the month when the Disco needs new parts. :banghead: This time it's shocks, my OME shocks are way too bouncy and squirly these days, I would assume that I wore them out. I have had them for about the last 20k miles and all 4 of them plus the steering damper are shot. So my question is this. Are there any rebuildable shocks, with remote resivoirs that fit the stock D1 mounts? I won't buy the OME LTRs or whatever they are, I have less and less faith in that company every day. If I am going to need new shock mounts, I'm thinking about using the Rovertymes, that company seems to make a good product and get good reveiws, but does anybody have any other options I should look at? Also I would like to run 4 shocks on each axel, anybody have experience with 8 shock set-ups and how they like them.

As far as shocks, I've been looking at the Bilstiens, Kings, Foxs, and possibly a custom set of Curnutts. Has anybody had any experience with more than one of these brands? Hoping somebody has had a chance to do a good comparison, if one brand is better, why are they better? Also need a new steering damper, any recomendations?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I know the Foxs are available, and I can get those, the Bilsteins and Race Runners at below wholesale. My main interest is in quality, I don't mind spending the cash if I don't have to keep replacing them all the time. I would be very interested in how your budy is mounting coilovers though. That could be a really cool set-up.

my first choice is the bilsteins, and definetly the kings over the fox.

HI,

Have you called the company to let them know that the shocks crapped out so quickly? They seem to be popular here and have a great reputation amongst the Jeep guys. They are supposed to have great customer service. It might be worth a call.

Hi
My ome heavy duty shocks N115 and N44 have done about half of the miles yours have done. Done some off road work but none of the long runs on couragated tracks that are hard on shocks and they are fine at the moment.

50,000 miles on OME HD springs, shocks and dampner and they still perform great on/off road. Definetly contact the manufacturer. In 5 years on this site this is the first time I've heard anything negative about OME products................. FWIW....

I've sent a few emails and never got a response, I may call them up, but they never have performed very well to be honest. I think it's just time to upgrade and do it right.
