hope i made the right decesion... picked up a defender 200tdi yesterday. good price. anyway going to be installing it in a 109IIa.

You lucky dog you. I'm jealous. After a year and a half of looking for an affordable diesel I bought the only one that was in my price range. It was a Cummins 4BT, great motor but it's heavy as hell.

I'd love to have done the 200tdi but could not find one in my price range.

so far havent really made much progress. pretty much degreased the engine, drained the oil and refill... have taken the 109s rad out and military oil cooler. maybe tomorrow ill pull the gasser and re in re the clutch assembly onto the 200.

Took me a while to get mine back on the road but I also did a lot of other stuff besides just the engine swap. I rode in a 200tdi powered 109 last fall at the Mid Atlantic LR Rally. I was very impressed, so were most of the other folks that saw it run. He showed up a lot of the coil sprung vehicles, but a good portion of that was driver skill too.

He had swapped out the turbo for a different smaller or lighter turbo that spooled up at lower rpms. Had a nice sound to it.
