Anyone try to install a Jeep roll bar/cage in a series?

My buddy has an 06 Rubi and today I measured the bars and I think it'd fit perfect in a series (dimensionally).

Has anyone done this? Is it easily doable?

do they bolt to the frame or body? i would think the body on a jeep. unless you want to reinforce the rover body enough they would just be for decoration.

Stock Jeep roll bars do not tie into the frame. They just bolt to the body. A local shop could probably build you a simple roll bar for a reasonable price.

Look at the Safety Devices website for information on how they tie in to the frame. They have good drawings on the site. They are the company that made the 93 NAS external roll cages for the 110.

Arent they out of business? Scorpion Racing UK has cages on their site too, but they look to be the same as SD. I personally plan on making my own. Here is a website with some dimensions, althought this one is not frame mounted either. For me it has got to be mounted to the frame. If you run a soft top the roll bar at allwheeltrim might be an option but it is expensive and doesnt mount to the frame either.

1. homemade

2. military style (soft top only Bearmatch makes one similar and DAP sells it)

3. Real roll cages

It's like anything else, how much are you willing to spend? I know what I wanted, found an opportunity and went for it:

That's a D90 roll cage, slightly modified to fit my SWB Series IIA. The frame mounts will need to be custom made, probably by OC-Rovers.com folks.

It wasn't cheap, but I think it was the right way to go.
