I’m guessing this the best forum for this question.
What is a fair price for 5 gal. Jerrycans these days?

i had a dozen given to me back in the late 80s and sold the lot for $50 in the early 90s. Back then no one wanted the metal cans plastic cans were the rage with the racing crowd.

New - about 80 bucks.
I bought a pile of ex-NATO cans about 8 years ago for something like 20 a can, gave most of them away, still have three left.

I like the Wavian metal cans. I bought one from Wavian directly and one through Zoro.com when everyone else was sold out. Paid $80 for each of them.

I've bought them from jerrycan.com a few times, as well as from their Ebay store. I've no complaints at all in relation to their products.

Right now they're out of stock, but that will be sorted.

They fluctuate, but right now they're running at $50 a piece. Obviously it's a good idea to buy more than one at a time.

Cheers,

Kennith

On a side note, the one I got from Zoro came dented because it was loose in a large box. The one from Wavian was in a sturdy fitted box.

AB Stock Valpro cans. Sold single through 4-pack they come out to ~$43/can, but they often run them on sale down to <$40.

I have 2 Wavian in regular use for 20 years, and 2 Valpro in use for 8, no problems with either.

All this talk about jerry cans inspired me to think of a good holder.

I was thinking about getting one of the vertical ones from Wavian for in the car. We like to bring two water cans and keep one inside the car.

Not bad. All I'd do to it is to move the hinge from the ~2 inches off the floor all the way to the floor, and make the strap removable.
I liked this idea of retaining the can - https://www.amazon.com/Crown-Automotive-D8007-Mounting-Bracket/dp/B004RCUZ84/
Grab the handle, and you don't have to build the cage around it. Too bad I can't use it inside the Classic - the can is where the subwoofer usually resided, and the handle is above the window level, so doing that would push the can too far towards the center.

I have one of those brackets. I mounted a can on it, and the bracket was mounted to the ladder on my D1. The can stayed secure, but the weight beat the shit out the ladder mounts.
