welcome to colorado! the best rover mechanic is jeff corwin, but i'm afraid you'll have to drive into denver to see him. here's his site: http://www.jcrover4x4.com/ he knows all rovers inside and out and is the most honest, nice guy you'll ever meet.

Jeff has helped my son out and did a good job. There is also Pikes Peak Rovers in Colorado Springs. They also are great to work with.

Yeah, flyover country is getting crowded with those that have soiled their nest.

The younger generation of "retired" people don't desire the golf retirement communities. They are looking at places in South America, Mexico or other more interestings locations that offer a better exchange rate. Who wants to hang out with a bunch of lame old people with white shoes and Lincolns?
My father is coming out of retirement at age 75 to take a position at Clemson. He realized an idle mind is not what it's cracked up to be. He was not about to follow the rest of his snow bird friends down south to die a slow death at the buffet lines either.

Bev and I have some older friends who have talked about retirement communities in Florida that offer everything from supermarkets to hospitals. All you need is a golf cart  I'd be in a mental ward within a year. What will keep me in the US will be family. They won't consider South America. Mexico? I'd be careful of a state that is falling apart. Hell, we may need to rescend the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and reinvade. Now I could consider a vacation home in the Caribbean. . .

Glad to hear you dad is coming out of retirement. My dad is sharp as he ever was and stays involved. Keep encouraging him!

There are entire towns in Mexico that are 90% American's, very safe and non-corrupt. Yet they offer lots of pesos for the US dollar and it's beautiful. It just depends on where you go. The only problem is that US citizens cannot buy property. They must lease it for 100 years. This may have changed for specific states though.
Honduras is another country on the mend. It's what Costa Rica was like in the mid 90s. It will soon be a big destination place for active traveler.
He was approached by Clemson and had no plans to do anything again with private practice or a university. He's very "sharp" and in very good health. I know that a large part of that is because he never stopped staying active with work, the community or his desire to never stop learning.

I live up in Winter Park. I was down in Apsen for the X Games last January. Have you got involved in Solihull yet? there are trail rides staged for about every weekend.

Check out trying to attend the National Rover Ralley in Moab this year in September. http://www.landrovernationalrally.org/

Thanks man yeah i am definitely joining Solihul. Gonna try and get to the national rally as well - i'm doing the 24 hours of Moab in the fall as well so should be a lot of good times there in the fall. I came out here with the intent of putting a bunch of money into my truck.....RTE bumpers, winch etc.....but i just bought 2 new bikes.....oh well......
