Don't know if that will work in a Rover type axle with no removable Diff cover..

I could always start my mantra... But for fear of sounding like a broken record I won't..

Not sure about Keith's Matra, but here's my 2 cents...

KAM has had a bad reputation and is on the fence of "Suck-ville"...~10 years ago, they came out and had ads in all magazines that they have a fusable CV, bla bla bla...that's a bunch of crap in my opinion as NO ONE runs then, and the FEW that did, complained...

There are two ways on locking Rover axles:

1. Drop in Rover components ("ok", if you are sticking to 33s and below, why not)
2. Do the Toy coversion route (cheaper, stronger, and better choices)

Doing some searching on the web I have found nothing that says that they are "bad" or "low quality" but rave reviews of this new system...
(and no I am not quoting anybody on those words)

It looks like Bill at GBR has some dealings with KAM but I am not sure that I want to travle down that road. Does anyone else here in the us sell them???

Why do you want a elocker? and do you really want something in a diff where it will take a couple of weeks to get parts for if it when it breaks...

From the looks of things the solinoid is probably easy to come by if you know where to go for them.

And if there is an American side dealer for their stuff it probably wouldn't be all that long of a wait.

Sorry but I have had some bad experiences and a lot of wasted money into ARB's set ups.

Not being a dick, but if this was a good option, more guy's would be running it in the US...

long and short of it is that the first set was on the truck when I bought it and they locked up causing me to walk out of an easy trail to get my buddy at camp... second set the front locked up on me on a trail cause some how it had rusted in where the air actuator and the air line mounted. I think that it was caused by the compressor having some condensation in it but the guys who tore it apart were kind of amazed but said that it was possible...

I don't mind the arb's so much but I have been looking at all of the diff stuff and just would like to use an elocker I know that arb is tried and true and for the most part the only choice for most LR owners when it comes to selectable diff locking but a lot of the guys I wheel with are yota guys with the elocker set up and the in the past have had air too and they swear by the elockers now... I kinda just want to be different and use something that may be for the lack of better terms "next century" over older technology

I know Keith....anyway's, most of yota guy's own here run a detroit or arb in the rear elocker/arb front...when the yota elocker blows up, you gotta cut the axle housing to get it out...

want a e-locker go with keiths toy conversion and get some added strength while you are at it.

rust in the ARB has more to do with failure to change contaminated fluid then anything else, dosent really matter whats in there for a diff/locker you get it wet and dont change the fluid the service life will be reduced.

ARB's do great in rovers. you just need to enlarge your breathers and they work great.

ARB's are not flawless. If you keep locking them up its clearly user error. The fact is that happens when you are not locking and unlocking them coreectly.

It all has to do with timing. You need to load and unlod the drivetrain in time with your switch activation so the gears have a chance to fully engade and disengage... cheat the system and drive with a heavy foot and you can damage them. This is said to be even tougher with the new RD128 model because it has timed engagement geears so it always locks in the same place for strength. This means that some times the axel shafts will have to rotate farther to reach the locking position this means you will need to be more atuned to how you operate it.

now you can come back and say this is BS...but I promise you it is not. If you are locking them up you need to work on your driving skills.

I've only seen one front E Locker blow up. But the housing didn't require surgery to get it out..

What happens when the let go..

And more importantly when are you going to be around so we can drink expensive Agave?

Think you could make it to the King Of the Hammers Race in February..

I might be racing in Henderson in January but there won't much time for Drinking. There is also a race in December we might attend down in you neck of the woods..

We missed you at the Rallye, Alex and Lane where in fine form.. We and so was I..

My question is why do you want to pay 650 pounds( around $1100) for a weird e-locker when you can get a toy kit from rovertracks for 575, plus you can get a toy third for cheap, i the long run its going to save you money.

you can get a open third for 100 bucks, and you can get a lockrite locker for 200.. thats cheaper

And check out this pic, this is my toy pinion next to my HD gbr pinion.. toy dominates it..

and here is a pic of my rover with all 6000 lbs sitting on the rear axle as im going up wipe out hill on 2 wheels.... thank god i wasnt on rover gears, i can hear the teeth breaking now!!!

I've seen this on 2 rear elockers, one passenger side, one driver side axle...the axle "twists" when it breaks and gets stuck in the collar that locks it. Then you are in for some fun. You won't be able to get the axle out and no way to remove the 3rd without cutting into the axle housing and cutting the collar or the axle.

Trucks running, but i need to finish the interior...I'll probably be at the hammers race, more on this later. Going down to catch the upper part of the Baja 1000 seeing how it's close. Let me know about the December race...

tequilla, drank some last night...
