Pick up a Feast magazine. They are based out of Saint Louis but do write ups on regional bars and restaurants. They focus on STL, Columbia and KC.

Ditto, Gates is good, my fave was always Jack Stack in Martin City. I lived there for 10 years, been gone for about the same amount of time....area was always lacking on good food places. That said, they were developing the Power and Light District and it was fun with the kiddos during the day, and had some decent places to eat and have beverages.

We tried to get into Q39 but it was a two-and-a-half hour wait. We went to a newer place called Char Bar instead. It was fantastic. Good barbecue, a nice patio, and great drinks. A+, would recommend.

We'll give Joes, Jack Stack, and Gates a try next time--if we can get in.
