Do not confuse me as a complete Bush Admin.-Hater...but there are some interesting points here about how those who ask "why" or "at what cost" are unfairly branded anti-patriotic.

I'm looking, but in the meantime, does anybody have a quick link to the Rumsfeld speach that Olbermann is targeting?

And no, Crooksandliars.com is not a website I frequent, the link was sent to me by a coworker. I have no patience for one-sided fodder-farm sites like it, or others from either side of the political fence, thank you.:patriot:

That was a really scathing video. It's amazing to think that Keith Olbermann used to do Sports Center.

No shit!...he's a full 180 degrees from "Bang! From Way Downtown!":smilelol:

thanks for the Rumsfeld link.

i don't see hitler and the extremest as that far off from each other. if hitler had had a underground network as far spread as them we would have had a much harder fight.
911 was nothing new the jap's were flying there own planes into our ships, if they could have made inland i'm sure they would have hit other targets.
now the problem is no matter how many leaders we kill, another will always take his place.

The german's tactics and pace was much slower than ours, and they secured towns and villages along the way. To their surprise there were many 'underground' resistance movements along the way. Now they were not always as well armed as the germans at first, but were able to get supplies in and communicate out to others in the movement. Germany didn't have enough established in the areas they invaded to have an underground movement, just as the americans have very little in an underground movement in iraq. If you were in france, and had a german accent, chances are you were the invading force.
The japanese targeted our ships, as they knew that was the only way to keep us from rolling over them in the Pacific. they tried to block the western most US harbor with ships to inconvience the US in refueling and resupplying our ships. To them, being a kamakazee pilot had great honor, much like the suicide bombers in the middle east. The difference is you can see an airplane coming.

Now, before I say the rest, I'm not an anti-american, nor am I anti war. BUT:

The US is an army invading a foreign land (for what ever reason you can think of: oil, terrorists, dictator gone bad). We can be comparied to Germany's march on polland, france, etc. Do we have the same agenda? Again, I can't answer that without looking like a sympathzier. Iraq has an underground militia movement, be it true iraqi citizens, afghan rebels, or a terrorist cell. They, unfortunately, are as well armed as our soldiers and have caused considerable damage.

With a fast-paced 60mph dash to the capital, how could you not overlook tens of thousands of weapons, ammo,RPGs, etc. We should have done a slow roll, disarming the people as we went, and destroying the weapons. Now the underground milita has plenty of arms, and is within the invading forces' front line. Rummy and his buddies far underestimated the will of the Iraqi people.

What both sides needs to realize is we need to turn the country over to the new Iraqi government and start to withdrawl our troops.

ok, enough rant. Semper Fi! :patriot:

Keith Olberman is a disgruntled Loser. He is very bitter and continues to become more and more bitter the worse his ratings get. He flat out lies in many of his representations of what others say. It is so obvious to those that actually pay attention to what is said.

Must have hit pretty close to the mark to get old Keith Olbermann (and the rest of the media) so riled up. He tried to reframe the argument, but he just didn't sell it.

Rumsfeld just publicly humiliated the press. They got punched in the nose and are trying to stand up again. It's about damn time.

Rumsfeld said, more or less, about the insurgents, "No one expected we'd have people fighting us like that." Now, you'd have to be a complete and total idiot to really believe that, or think everyone else are idiots if you thought others would believe it. Neither option speaks well of the man.
For me, that pretty much says it all, as I base my opinions of politicians on what they say, not on what others say about them.

Or in the case of the Left, you never get to hear reality.

Now why is that?

Not only is the Left disgruntled, they are also kept ignorant.

The problem with those in power and their enablers is that their reality is what they want reality to be, without basis in fact. For sure, some on the left, and on the right, are ignorant fools, but those on the left are writing on dailykos, those on the right are actually in a positions of power (and posting on freerepublic ;) ).

But there are many people on both the left and the right that can recognise bullshit when they hear it. And Rumsfelds speech was nothing but bullshit - the desperate last ditch effort to justify huge mistakes in the "War on terrorism" and Middle East policy. I am so sick of this garbage that I need be so scared of a terrorist blowing me up, or Iran nuking my ass, that I should be grateful that my government is protecting me, albeit by violating rights, breaking the law and just being simply un-American. The bullshit gets stupider by the day, and the stakes get higher.

Bush does seems to confuse loyalty to people with loyalty to a policy. I really don't think he realizes that supporting the new government in Iraq and it's democratization is a separate issue from loyalty to Rumsfeld. It's like he sees it as a house of cards that all falls if he pulls one.
