Folks, if you ever are planning to do a custom color change that is as elaborate as that, please PLEASE paint the door jambs.

i like the two tone, ive seen black door jambs on two red classics

That does bother me, but I guess if the two-tone was done right it may be different. Looks like there is some overspray in the door jams. Makes the whole car look crappy if you ask me.

Early RRCs had black door jambs, no matter what the exterior color

The only car I ever took to Maaco they painted more than the door jambs. It had over spray on everything, the wheels, tires and exhaust.

Maaco can do a good job *if* you do the body and prep work yourself and color sand the paint work afterwards.

Yup. I'd like to get my paws on that. I was looking at XJRs a while back, actually.

At the very least, the engine would be a nice fit in my XJS. :)

Cheers,

do you think Kennith will notice?

If the car turned out to be in otherwise great shape in every other way, and I was keen to buy one, I'd bring my own paint.

I almost bought another XJS a while back that had been mostly resprayed in blue. It was immaculate other than the color change, which pisses people off.

The original color was British racing green... Any respray is warranted. The only person I can think of who would happily knock about in a turd green car is Dan, and even then only to look down his nose when he says it's original paint.

I was considering trading mine for it, but I didn't have it together at that time.

Now I've got some nice blue carpet on order, and I'll be dropping in all the new upholstery. I don't think I'll be ditching it anytime soon.

Cheers,

Kennith
