Key fob won't open doors

Hi D-web
Got one that is stumping even my mechanic
The key fob stopped working suddenly on my 99 D1
Replaced the battery and even tried another key fob.

The tech tried the reset process,and that too didn't work.

Manual key works just fine. All doors open and close.
I'm guessing the control unit for the remote is no good ?
(If there is one?)
The red alarm light and alarm still function fwiw

Many years ago the local garage replaced the dr's door lock
and the locked 3 flashes never worked, but the unlocked one flash
still does, if that ads any info. When I asked about it, he said he 'didn't
Set it up to flash purposefully" for some unknown reason....

Not to flash 3 times by lock=> battery low.
There are many batteries that fail, then they don?t arrive to the "battery ok" 3 time flashing.
Try putting Panasonic batteries, lock more than 3 times in order to get syncronizing .
Check battery contact holder if it?s ok by soldering points to PCB
