Have you ever had it not lock when pressing the lock button?? I've been having this problem and it's solved by hitting unlock, then lock again.

Battery going bad?? Haven't checked yet.

I've had that problem. I don't think it is a battery failure - the RR will tell you when the battery is weak and needs to be replaced.

I've always just used the workaround that you have found - press unlock and then lock if it doesn't recognize the lock command first time around. It happens maybe 5-10% of the time, I find.

nope mine was a case of the remote was useless.... it wouldnt do anything (escept the little red light would flash)

according to the manual, the lock codes chage with ever click... if you click the remote to many times when its not "connecting" with the alarm, it gets out of sync OR if you take more then one minute between changing batteries, the remote will get out of sync with the alarm....

Thanks for posting that! I was trying to figure out why the remote on my 98 d1 didn't work. That solved the problem

P38A Fob Contact Cleaning

Yesterday I was reduced to having to unlock the doors with the key as the Fob just wouldn't do its thing any longer. There wasn't any low battery from the message center so I started looking around or information. The LED was intermitent when I pushed the buttons. It wouldn't unlock or lock reliably for over several weeks prior to this occasion. On Sunday I caught wind of this thread.

This is what worked for me. I cleaned the contacts in the Fob with a pencil erasor. The erasor removes almost invisble oxide layers on the plated surfaces. The contact at the edge of the cap which holds onto the batteries I think is what has responded to this cleaning the most. The battery access disk must be turned anti-clockwise to remove it whitch is the opposite direction from the little arrow which is molded into the part. The button with the coin slot receives a nickle rather well as far as fit is concerned. But the disk only turns a small distance. It isn't threaded. So when it stops you may find that tapping the unit in your hands will get the disk with batteries to fall out from the Fob. Keep an eye on that o-ring and the accumulated grunge may need to be scraped away from this opening with a pen knife.

After cleaning the contacts and re-programming the Fob the unit is wotking just like it did when I remember thinking how long it had been since I needed to stick the key in the door the last time.
