kickdown cable gone wrong...

replaced shift down cable what a bitch. Now it is almost impossible to put the truck in gear, any gear. Replaced the filter at the same time cant tell if the converter is locking up. The fluid was not all drained out and has been drained and filled a few times prior, no idea how old the filter was. Any thoughts on why it is so hard to select gears before I go back into it.

Miss the o-ring on the filter pick up tube? Throw in an extra quart just to see if raising the levelover the top of the pickup helps temporarily?

I think you are going to have to drop the transmission pan again and look at the shifter cable end that is in there. You might have moved it around. I remember almost messing mine up when I replaced my kickdown cable and thinking "wow, you just about messed that up big time" when I caught it.
