Was it just a bad idea of mine to order the kingsborne wires with the firebraid option installed? They sell fire braid sheath but this option is from the manufacturer, so it goes the distance of the wire. Apparently protecting from high temps up to 1200 degrees.

As I am driving home I thought well shit, now I am almost guaranteed to not have the wires fit through the wire clips. Is this a bag thing or does it not matter? Should protecting against heat even matter? Seems the wires sit really close to the exhaust so it couldn't hurt?

I've never had a heat problem with my Kingsborne. You can take a drill and open up your holders some.
Did you get the optional rust proofing?

I have to look to see what I got. I was taken off guard when I called, it was like calling a neighbor.

Good call on drilling the clips open. Firebraid is probably worthless, oh well.

these wires came today, look very well built.

I like the idea of the firebraiding, it looks and seems to be a good idea. I am still not thinking these will fit the clips. Going out tonight to see how far off they are, hopefully not too bad.

anyone know where to get generic clips to use in the event I can't use them?

I replaced my wires with magnecore recently, and all my stock clips were mostly broken - those that weren't, the new wires didn't really fit into anyways. I used a couple zip-ties (not terribly tight) to shore up the wiring a little bit and try to keep it sorta out of the way.

Are clips really necessary?

....why? The stock wires were clipped against one another fairly closely. You really think an extra 1/10th of an inch of closeness is going to make a difference on wiring that's exceptionally well insulated?

but these wont attach to the rover covers.

I took one of the clips off and tried drilling it out a bit. Seems like this might work although I dont know what my chances of successfully drilling all these without breaking one. May swing my rover dealer tomorrow to see if these are available cheap.
I don't think anyone makes clips that attach directly to the stock valve covers other than Land Rover.

arcing isn't the problem. Induced voltage is (think transformer).

Best zip tie method I saw for wires was to wrap one loosely around all the wires horizontally ... then go in and wrap 3 vertical ones in tightly between the wires... will space them all apart.

The firebraided wires are taught enough that I found I don't need most of the clips. The spacer mounted on the back end of the valve covers was big enough to get the wires in. Just took about four hours with sai, never done before, the wires were great. Great length and felt very secure attaching at both coil and plug.

Let's hope all goes well, it fired up so that's a good start for me!
