I just got rid of a food processor and ready to ditch a blender.

Anyone got the Ninja Kitchen System?

Think it's the best blender/processor out there?

Any recommendations?

I've got a Ninja blender (just the blender). It's a good blender, but I don't think it's any better than higher end Osters I've owned.

Blender? Vitamix all day. First time i saw the $400+ pricetag i was like no way, but it truly is a great blender. Well worth the price and a 10yr warranty. Smoothies, frozen margaritas, etc. not a fan of food processors, most i ve had just burnt out.

My wife had a NutriBullet and now a Ninja. The Ninja has lasted a couple of years, but the bearings are on their way out. It is quite noisy and smokes sometimes. I think she is going to replace it with a Vitamix.

How are you guys talking about blenders without mentioning BlendTec?

Never hear of BlendTec; just know Vitamix works. Even Chef Ramsay hands those out, hehe.

Oh please, a trophy wife in Scottsdale knows more than RAmsey ;)

I don't understand all these kitchen gadgets. Deep fryers, air fryers, instapots, crock pots, mixers, coffee makers, microwaves, food processors, blenders....the shit just clogs up the kitchen. And most people keep this shit on their counters and use them once every two months. A clutter free kitchen is a happen kitchen.

Show me a kitchen where folks deep-fry foods and I'll show you a house that smells like an episode of hoarders.

Eh, We do use our blender and air fryer; smoothies, frozen margaritas, etc. and chiken primarily. Dont keep them on the counter but in the pantry. Aside from that I cut everything by hand; never used a processor and do not own one. An air fryer only smells when it is on; never had a lingering smell. Dont really drink coffee now but the wife does, hence the coffee maker.

Are you really saying you don't have a coffee maker or microwave and just cannot fathom why someone might want these? Add the blender to it. You can't imagine why someone might wish to make a frozen drink or puree?

Not sure what a "happen kitchen" is.

Coffee would take me about an hour to go get, just as a point of reference. All our appliances except small coffee maker are in cabinets.

Never had a fryer, but if I did, it would be outside. If it were inside there are plenty of ways to get rid of cooking smells.

My counter has
coffee maker, used daily
instantpot, crockpot(s), food processor, blender & stand mixer are in cabinet.
You know, like the silverware & stuff.
Any of those will stay out if I know I'm using it the next day.
The microwave is attached to the wall above the range.

I think what Dan is saying people who have all that shit on their counters and don't use it are like people with sand ladders & hi-lift jacks & off-road lights & jerry-cans on their "rigs".
You know, the kitchen equivalent of those cunts.

What if you keep your Instant Pot on your counter because you use it every other day but your Range Rover is completely stock and you actually drive it off-road?

Bread machine. Just kidding. The only noveltyesque kitchen item I actually use is a soda stream but just for carbonated water. By far the most used item in my kitchen are cast iron skillets followed by the mixer which is almost a must for gluten free cooking.

Here's what I use most in my kitchen, and what I wouldn't want to be without at this point:

1: Mr. Coffee iced tea maker.

I've got the fancy one with the glass pitcher, as I figured it would be easy to clean. Round about 8 minutes and a hose-out, and you've got perfect iced tea. You can even put the sugar right in with the bags if you like a lot of that.

2: Panasonic Genius microwave.

It's a bad motherfucker, and I ain't gentle with it. Never had the first issue.

3: Kitchenaid Pro 600 mixer.

It really is a step above the others, and while taller, doesn't need to tilt. That means you could leave it under low cabinets if you like. I bought it when challenged to make a great cheesecake, and I use it quite often. Very easy to clean, and that's important to me, because I don't have sense enough to own a dishwasher.

4: Some ceramic mortar and pestle from England.

Picked it up from a fancy kitchen store with a French name; circle table or something like that. Whatever. If you don't have one, you should go get one. All my spices are ground manually, and that allows extremely fine control of particle size.

5: Again, some kind of fancy imported pepper mill from Williams Sonoma.

If you don't have a pepper mill, you don't have a kitchen, and the ceramic stuff under the hood is much smoother in operation than lesser units. I think it was fifty bucks or so, but I use it every day. I do frequently grind pepper manually, but that's kind of stupid when you're eating, or just need to grind some as you're taste-testing.

Cheers,

Kennith

Kennith, you mean Sur La Table? Used to frequent that store quite a bit while living in VA. They have some good stuff. I have to say I am impressed with Le Creuset ceramics (have had plate sets for a few years now and not a scratch on them). They have an outlet not too far from here but never stopped by though. I do have a mortar and a pestle but also a coffee grinder which I pretty much only use to grind sescheuan peppers for the bbq sauce. I do use those little mesh metal containers wtf they are called for keeping peppercons in a soup when cooking. Comes in real handy so you dont have to bite on one later. Get the flavor then dump them.

FYI - I've seen quite a bunch of LaCreuset ceramic coated cast iron at my local Marshalls of all places. Good prices.

The only thing you can see in my kitchen is a coffee maker and sometimes a pepper mill. Everything else is tucked away. No microwave. When I built my new home I had the microwave plug installed in the pantry, but have never purchased a microwave.

Probably. Good analogy.

I deep fry often. I use a big ass stock pot (I think it's 20qt) and use a gallon of oil and a proper thermometer to keep the temp where it should be. I have a great exhaust fan that vents outside & keep that on high. Afterwards strain the oil & keep in fridge for next time. Usually lasts a long time.

We have a small kitchen so counter space is limited.... french press, toaster, & compost container are the only things that stay out. The rest stay in the pantry or down in the basement right at the bottom of the stairs for easy access.

Pizza stones stay in the oven.
