I will go ahead and point out the following... there is a Dynaliner section under the hood that I need to re-glue, the truck does have a Saudi spec grille and Discovery II headlight upgrade, All the A/C parts under the hood were removed when the turbo/intercooler work was done, I do still have all those parts and they are included with the truck, as is the left rear seat which is currently removed to make room for the ARB fridge freezer, the security grilles in the rear windows are from Safari Equip, the dash, door panels and console trim are from a late Discovery I with LE trim, the rearview mirror is from an '04 Discovery II and is autodimming, with compass and Homelink, the front turnsignals are custom wired to also work as park lamps, and the undercarriage still has mud/clay in places from the last wheeling trip. Only rust is surface rust on sliders, driveshafts, etc. there is no rust on the body.

Truck also comes with a LOT of spare parts- from fuel filters, belts, etc. to parts you can't find locally for a 300 TDI- such as spare turbo, oil cap, dipstick, thermostat, water pump and more.

Really nice? Did I miss something? That thing contains a bountiful cornucopia of excellent parts to be sure, but it's uglier than a bucket full of raped assholes.

\I guess it's worth that much, but I still can't imagine spending that much on an old Disco. Not that someone shouldn't if they have it to spend, but wow.

You're paying for the motor (and a few bucks for the truck). Those diesels are not cheap. But they are great (IMO much better than the v8).

Mechanically it's A1 but the body looks dented. How much to build something like this off a $3000 D1 ?

It depends. Who's doing the work?

If you go to other Forums, you can see that 300 Tdi on sale range from $3,500 up to $7,000 and you can ask some of the guys that have done the swap... you'll end up in the range of $10k... maybe more. If you pay someone to do it... $15k.

The lift/suspension/armor/bumpers/lockers is the easy part... get TerrafirMa or RTE kits, GBR axels, TW shafts, Warn, ARB etc. This probably will cost $15k to $20k if you want the good shh..tuff.

What Joel is asking is a lot less from what you'll spend if you mimic his truck... only if you are doing all the cursing, bleeding, screaming and wrenching.

I know most of you will disagree with this, but do the numbers and you'll see it will be A LOT higher.

So you have an idea... I have a 4.6L GEMS on my DI and this swap is a lot simpler than a Tdi. When all was said and done the PO bills were over $10k. (I have them).

I bet there's over $40k in parts on this truck, if you buy them new. Now, $39.8k... I have some of the parts... :-D

Hijack off...

Great looking truck GLWS

none of your fucking business
The swap, done correctly, plus add all the "included" stuff like upgraded turbo, gauges, Stainless Steel reservoirs, and anal retentive maintenance schedules...

The truck is more than just parts...you can't even look at it as if it were "Just a 1995 Discovery". Hell, even the interior door panels are LSE if I remember correctly.

That's the thing you guys might not know. With Joel's endless supply of parts, every neat little swap, or Land Rover's shortcomings, have been taken care of with this truck.

buy it or don't, I've got no skin in the game but, there is no denying this truck is nice.
