That’s because all the guys driving them were the folks rocking Disco 1s that they would buy cheap, run until they rotted and failed an MoT, then transfer all their off-road kit to the next borderline rust bucket. The Disco 1s are basically too rare now and the DII is the next best cheapest LR alternative in mass quantities. Defender irrational exuberance has priced them out of 90s and 110s. You should have seen some of the trash mobile Defenders that used to drive around 14+ years ago. Most nowadays either look great or like real life Hot Wheels. Either way they’re too expensive.I'm a member of a FB group called Land Rover Discovery 2. Most of the members are in the UK. The shit they do to their trucks make shitter pipe snorkels and hood racks down right refined.

One of my work buddies decided to "get into offroad scene" - and did it in a classic way. Bought himself a Tacoma, and bolted on exactly the same doodads as every other Taco in town, RTT and all.Driving around with a $1500 tent on your truck 365 days to camp 3 nights a year seems like a great investment.
