From the Wikipedia article on Haiku-

"Modern Japanese gendai (現代) haiku are increasingly unlikely to follow the tradition of 17 on or to take nature as their subject...."

Not traditional Haiku, rather the English interpretation of Haiku as popularized by Jack Kerouac

Use of three lines of up to 17 syllables;
Use of a season word (kigo);
Use of a cut or kire (sometimes indicated by a punctuation mark) to compare two images implicitly
