Had a rover as a daily driver since 16 years old...and a few Jeeps in there too. I had a 1998 that reached 98K before I sold it, a 2002 with 52k that I have driven from FLA to NY to OKC to Dallas. The 88 RRC had 210k roughly before it was sold out as parts after an accident. JUST DO IT! ;)

daily driver

problem with my truck as a daily driver is that its so recognizable at work that its hard to leave early on slow days without someone knowing...plus i'm the dedicated yank people out of ditches after a snow storm truck...just drove 3500 miles in the span of a week no issues whatsoever...if you own one just drive it...don't let it sit

Cool. I think I'm gonna use it as a daily driver; however, getting a second rover as a daily driver would be bad because then I'd lift it and mod it and have two trail rigs.

I have a '91 Classic with a decent amount of mods and a '97 D 90 ST. Lost compression in one of the cylinders on the Classic so the D 90 has been the daily driver for the last couple of months. From the Baja 1000 to Tahoe and white out blizzrd with 3 friends and all the boards and gear straped to he roof. It needs a better heater with the ST but other than that the rig is a snowmobile.

I drive my Discovery daily; stock 1996 model with over a 123,000 miles. Not much opportunity for traditional off-road driving. But, in my position as a landscape architect/land planner and sometime construction manager, I drive on a lot of construction sites, some with very steep grades. It does very well both on the road and on the construction sites.

I've got a 95 RRC with near 160k on the clock as my daily driver. The backup is a *shamely says* Ford, but that one should be replaced in the near future for another Rover

daily driver

1997 d1 123,000 + miles, lifted, safari rack ( that whistles very nicely at highway speeds) approx. 55 miles per day highway and back roads. Would not drive anything else. Sold a vw jetta that got great mileage, couldn't get used to it, missed driving the rover. :D

97' disco DD partime I have a ranger that is supose to be my DD but I tend to drive the Disco more. 2" OME 235/75 MT,ABR front, warn 9k.

If you go just about any where in south OC you'll see tons of Dicos and RR, but not to many LR3's no one seems to like them around here ( can't blame them).

What's wrong with 2 trail rigs? :D

My D2 w/2" lift is a great daily driver...
Works out good, one is for more extreme wheeling, the D2 is my milder expedition-style wheeling rig and daily driver.

Does anybody here using their built up rigs as DD's have ARB lockers on them? I'm just curious if anybody has run into problems with these using the truck daily.

Question for everybody... I currently have a 98 disco that i primarily use for offroading simply b/c I only have weekends off and don't relaly daily drive much.

WHen i graduate, I plan on getting another vehicle as a daily driver. I was curious how everybody feels about land rovers as daily drivers or if most ppl just use their trail rigs as daily drivers. I honestly wont have that much of aproblem doing that, but was still curious. I only had bone stock for about 2 months before I started modding mine so I didnt really daily drive with my rover ever.

Any and all thoughts would be welcome as I am very curious about this and love rovers.

If you don't really drive much during the week, why buy a second vehicle.

Most miles driven for any Land Rover is usually highway miles getting to and from the off road, which both are pretty harmless...

Having to drive a LR every day is actually a good thing...... at least it is for me :D

The best 2nd vehicle you can have is another Land Rover..... You'll at least guarantee yourself having a Land Rover as a daily driver....

I'm odd man out. I save the Rover for fun or bad weather. Rolling a Mustang to work and stuff.

By not driving the Rover, with parts and fuel it almost pays for the Mustang.

My D1 is a daily driver with a round trip commute of 70 miles. If it's light rain or drier and above 40F, I ride a motorcycle and put the money I saved into the Rover's tank. Sometimes I'll still opt for the truck when it's warm & sunny just so I can sip coffee and listen to the morning dorks on the radio.
