Before I go "signing" anything, this group needs to get it's act together. Lot's of hype and scary statements, but no real information. Some examples:

1) "We need 50,000 signatures" - for what? There's no statement about what the petition is for?

2) Is this local? national? Talks about a bill in California. Is this for CA?

3) "Semi-Primitive BackCountry Recreation Designation to preserve all existing Multiple Use lands for all existing forms of recreation & management. " So does this mean that mountain top removal mining is OK now and forever? What exactly does this statement say?

4) Who are these people and who pays the bills? (Here in MI a few years ago, we had a constitution amendment referendum about banning future gambling (except for established ones - they could grow/expand beyond what they were already doing). Guess who sponsored that? The existing casinos. They wanted to keep competition out.)

I see a lot of hype, but no clarity on what specifically this is about and who is running the show. Makes my :bs:meter go off...

That said ^^^^^^,
GroupW has a point. An access/advocacy forum on Dweb might not be such a bad idea. But the outfit in the original link, it just smells fishy to me....

On the surface this groups goals seem admirable, but this statement concerns me a little:

Public Lands Petition said:
Semi-Primitive BackCountry Recreation Designation will promote greater biodiversity by allowing active management under the strictest regulations in the world.
