I had a 245x75/16 spare installed, and now I can't fit my spare in the stock place... I read in the archives if I move the seat belt pulley a few inches up I can get it back in there... but how do I do that? Do I need to custom fab a steel bracket or something?

I just removed the seat belt completely from that side.

i'll take a look tonight after work and draw a little picture of what you would need to relocate it.

yeah maybe so with the 245 sitting in there. in past i used 235/85 with the seat belt removal thing.

beating the thing to fit was never a step i wanted to take as i was afraid it would let got from all the rust.

ill still see what kind of braket it would take, should be simple to design.

I'd like to just relocate the seatbelt bracket thing... I don't own a big sledge, and knowing me i'd probably hit and break something on accident.

I took a 5lb sledge and beat the crap out of the metal bottom indent area. :ack:

Fits like a glove.

so I looked and to make a braket would be easy. I'll make you one at work on Monday and mail it to you ( and one for me ... hehe)

That'd be awesome. Thanks!

So for my trail run tomorrow, should I go jeep style and bungee the tire to my roof rack?

I made a plate that moved the attachment point for the screw that holds the spare up about 1-3/4" and forward about 1-1/4 " - then I put a short piece of 2x4 under the tire and everything clears. The plate bolts into the stock tire screw hole and another bolt directly above that keeps it from rotating. 245/75R16 tire just barely clears everything that way,

Just deflate it like others have suggested for the time being. I can air you up if you need it.

really?

i had mine fit with ease. it doesnt lineup with the threaded hole for the little plate that screews in, you have to relocate that through a bolt hole.
