leak at heater hose - re RTV after hose replacement?

I replaced the engine in the 04 Disco and I had a small leak at the heater hose, so I cut the hose off and I noticed that I did not clean up the black RTV on the heater hose connectors on the firewall side. So I just cleaned it up with a razor.

Should I re-RTV the heater hose connector? Was it this way from the factory? This time I plan on using the constant tension band hose clamps as I bought the tool today.

thanks

wow - hose and not RTV, could be possible for sure. Ordering new hoses on Monday as I had to cut them off. Ordering new clamps too. Pipe ends are nice and clean now. I just wish I cleaned it up better before this :(

The new hoses are double-diameter and pre-formed, so you cannot just put a new section of regular heater hose on there.

The heater hoses are sold as a pair up to facelift, might be changed post-facelift.

Old number JHC100450 superceded by PCH500040.
