Does anyone have any comments or experience with leather repair kits?

I picked up my '01 SE7 last week and I don't know how I have a 1/2" cut on my rear right door panel just along the arm rest.

I heard that you can get a leather repairt kit on an auto store but I don't want to start experimenting

Thanks

I don't know how well the DIY kit will work, or if it will look very good when you do it. There are generally too many variables, like color, texture, and durability. Plus, that sounds like a very tricky place to repair.

There are plenty of professionals out there that will fix it for you, and it is not very expensive (usually well under $100, depending on the work needed). Look in the yellow pages. They spend a very long time getting the color just right, the pattern matched exactly, and the repairs hold up over time. They are especially good if there are 2 colors involved, or if there is a change in texture in the damage. I know of companies in my area, but I don't think they are franchises, so I doubt that would help you.

If you are iffy about it at all, I'd call around-- it might be less headache to have someone else do it.
