Left Front ABS sensor rearing erratic?

I put in a couple new front ABS sensors. One side seemed to work fine. But the driverside is sending erratic readings to the computer.

The plug didn't seem to plug in very well. I had to cut the outside of the plug on two sides to get it to go on.

I think the sensor is probably bad. I had the whole front end apart when I resealed the front 3rd member. The CV joint seemed fine, tone ring looked good and the hub doesn't have any play.

Would you agree that the chinese ABS sensor is junk? I have another one from Miami Rover parts to stick in there. I just didn't want to tear it all apart again. Looks like that is my only option.

Thanks

It must be the damn hub. I put a new sensor in last night. Drove about 10 feet and it set off the three amigos again.

it does not HAVE to be the hub. More than likely the hub. If it was my truck I would go all the way to the slabs ecu, unplug that connector and measure the voltage drop accross the whole circuit before I spent the money for a hub. If the voltage drop accross the whole damn circuit is low then its either the hub or the slabs ecu. But I would be shocked and amazed if its the slabs ecu.

So if you wan't me to explain how to do that I will. But I find that most people don't understand what I'm telling them to do and just roll the dice on the hub instead of wrapping his head around voltage drop readings.. Most times its the problem. So if your a gambling man do that. If not I am willing to explain how to verify the circuit is intact and not your problem.

Depending on the model your talking about. If your talking about your LM range with ball coolers then its a twisted pair. I would cut them out of some old harnesses we keep. Might not be the right color but still a twisted pair.

If your talking about a disco2 I try to use the overlay harness available from parts. with our without the sensor if I remember right. If you need twisted pairs of wires I can cut them out of about a ton of harness and send it.

But most times I try to locate the break and just fix it right there. What happened that makes you wan't to replace it end to end?

Thanks. Please do a write up.

I did find the old sensor had a wear mark on the sensor. that's what initially made me thing the hub might be going bad.

I need to figure it out soon. I'm heading out the San Rafael Swell a couple hours south of me for a weekend of fun. I could take my RRC, but its fairly stock. I don't want to break it.

I guess it doesn't matter too much if I have ABS and Traction control. I have a rear ARB locker and the LT230 is locked. I'll probably be just fine. But stopping seems to take longer now.

Yup, hub.
You can't test them on the vehicle by hooking up an oscope and spinning it. It's just not real world.
It might be smooth as manscaping jacked up but rough as shit with weight on it.

My D2 has all the service campaign stickers on it for ABS problems. That's on reason I bought it. So I kind of think its the hub because of that alone. seems like the ABS modulator has been factory fixed.

Factory fixed makes you feel better? I can't even remember what the brake campaigns involved. I remember one year we were reprogramming a couple things and replacing a throttle cable. I also remember them having us put t stats in the disco2, that fixed the shit out of the cooling systems don't you think?

Well hopefully your gonna feel all warm and fuzzy inside when your block cracks behind the liner any fucking way. i do believe it's gonna be better and if I had a Bosch motor I would do it. We beat this horse into the ground so many times around here. Lots of reasons why the disco 2 can't keep coolant in it. But it's hard to ignor the fact that the LP radiator stayed the same size as the GEMS version . But the Disco2 got half the radiator the good Disco had.
