Not a very technical thread, but I could use some input.

I want to relocate my license plate over to the winch bumper. I have seen a bracket made to attach to the fairlead bolt holes, but then comes off easily for offroading when access to the winch is needed. Has anyone else seen a ready made product like this, or was this a one-of-a-kind?

Attached is the super-scientific blueprint for what I want to do :D

Get a plastic Mag Light holders, bolt them up to the license plate and mate them up to the roller, when offroading, take it out (you have to deflate anyways)...put it back in your air hose bag to remember to relocate it when airing up / hitting the highways...

Dino beat me to it.

A D cel Maglite holder will do it. The clips go over the fairlead and you can fab a simple mount for the license plate.

Get rid of the front plate!

I went the Mag-lite clip way, but about a year ago the front plate was either stolen or fell off somewhere on the road. For over a year I have had no front plate and I have been pulled over by the police twice, both times they definitely saw the front of my truck as they ran out on foot from a hiding spot. My recommendation is to put the front plate on a shelf in the garage. It's a nusiance and looks ungly. If a cop asks you about it tell them it must have been stolen or fell off and that you will immediately take action to get another plate.

yep, i've known plenty of people who have been pulled over for not having a front plate in VA. i'm sure it was an excuse for other stuff, but rather not be pulled in the first place. have thought of putting some kind of simple lock on there, but after having the plate on there for about 3 years with no problems, not too worried.

I had mine zip tied to the lower bar on the brush bar on my truck but it kept getting ripped off, so when i had some free time i got some U bolts and bolted it on. It seems to be working well.

Thanks for the input guys. I like the mag-lite clip idea. Should be pretty easy to manufacture a mount. Someone mentioned GCR flashlight clips...Are these more durable/solid?

Plate location

I just used nylon zip-ties to secure the plate to the brush bar on one side of the fairlead. (This is a Safari Gard front end, so it hangs flat against the face of the bumper.) But VA cops *still* want to make an issue...one even tried to give me a ticket for the plate not being mounted in the *center* of the vehicle. I challenged him to show me where in the motor vehicle code that was written and after a bit of bluster and a "stern warning" he backed down.

Cheers

I've been told that the Maryland State Police is cracking down on not having a front license plate. I'm looking for solutions for mounting on my winch bumper. I'm leaning towards one that clips on a roller fairlead. I'm looking for some specific recommendations of one that is pre-made. I don't have time to fab my own. Thanks.
