hmm how does one choose between 285/75 and 255/85? I'm running 265/75 but want to go a bit bigger

I'm running on 255/85/16 Truxus MTs. They're a great overall tire. Just have to be rotated them every oil change or 3000 miles, which ever is sooner for you.

I prefer the 255s over the 285s because depending on the brand, they are a smidge taller. Being narrower they stuff easier on a wheel with more backspacing (better turning and a wider track) and also have more contact pressure. On my rig with wider track it gives it abetter balance visualy and on the trail. 255s are also lighter and will be easier on your steering gear.

I will admit though 285 look better. My next set will probably be a 33/105/15 or a 33/12.5/15. If you be interested my wheels and tires I could part with them for $800 (lug nuts included) they have ~1000 miles (and 1 easy wheeling trip to Bodega Bay) on them and have a 4wheelparts warranty. Wheels where machined ($200 on top of price of wheels) to fit the D2 pefectly. Its the perfect setup for a truck with a 3" lift. I just want to go 15"s, but I should just wait untill these wear out. I hate waiting. Heh

Hey I can now participate in this thread!

RTE/OME 2" and Nitto 265/75's. I choose to retain the airbag rears and used RTE's blocks which turn out to be very adjustable. Unfortunately the OME N107/N108 are just too short and I bottom out the rears on about every speed bump, let alone offroading. This is despite my having adjusted the airbags to 1" shorter than the front end. Seems a lot of people are using this setup though and it will allow you to retain stock brake/ABS lines.

Next step is to remove rear swaybar and put in some slick rock disconnects on the front. I have a feeling I might not like that on the street though and I am toying with the idea of some short TJ disconnects for the rear swaybar. Or maybe I can slow down...

I am researching longer shocks brake and ABS lines but these things are expensive.

I know..it's a driveway shot, but I am in California and my brother has my truck in Texas.

It's an '02 with a 3" OME lift and 285/75/16's. I haven't had a chance to test out the tires as my brother just put them on Friday, so I assume I'll have a bit of trimming to do when I get home.

Don't get me wrong, Cali has been great...but I can't wait to get back to Texas :victory:

Just get a nice set of Old Man springs and the same shocks and you willl be good to go.

I am not a fan of spacers under my coils for lifts under 3". They occupy more space compressed than just a coil, from what i have observed.

most OME 3" lifts for the d2 require spacers, or am I wrong?I also have been reading that the extra HD OMEs can be really rough, anyone using these? also, is it really 3" with winch and bumper? I kinda like how RTE went just a bity over 3" with theirs..

Last I checked, OME's shocks are only 1" longer than stock.., if so thats not even enough to bind up my watts linkage
(!!!)

why are folks so happy with them when running the spacer and their springs, which really fall short of the advertised lift when you load up the truck with winch bumper etc and dont take advantage of all available articulation?

I kinda really like shocks of enough lenght to take advantage of the rigg and what it can offer

I know they run good and last, but RTE does not recommned running them with their 3" lift..iirc..

also, while 265/75 works great wth rte 2" i feel they are a bit smallish for my now 3" lift and am betting a 255/85 will be just right

anyone have any rub issues with that combination??

Anyone have an RTE 3" with 1" spacers all around for 4"+ of lift. When I finally get my suspension in the next few months I'm thinking about doing that, and running 285/75 SSR's that measure 34x11.5 (bigger then a normal 285/75)...

Well I know they will fit with some trimming. I'm just wondering what you all think about the use of the spacers with the lift, I know people have different opinions on using them.

with 3" or less, I'm not a fan

as you get to longer shocks and between 3 and 5"lift

i find a 3/4 to 1" spacer to make sense to me, looking at my rigg's coil lenghts compressed vs extended

thats a badass disco u need some better picture of that

If you are talking to me, thanks! As for pics, I unfortunately suck at the photo taking part of wheeling, as I rarely ride with someone in front of me and am not much for stopping to pose for someone to run up and take a pic.

I havent seen it, but Im thinking about it once I have money for new springs, shocks and radius arms since I already have the spacers... Let me know if you do. I would really like to see it!

Its what I'm going to do, but I probably won't get to it until December or January. I'm just planning it all out right now so when the time comes I don't spend money on crap I'll just have to re-do later on...

Who sells longer after market radius arms for the D2 (how does that effect the drive shaft), is there anyone making rear links too?
