Its what I'm going to do, but I probably won't get to it until December or January. I'm just planning it all out right now so when the time comes I don't spend money on crap I'll just have to re-do later on...

Who sells longer after market radius arms for the D2 (how does that effect the drive shaft), is there anyone making rear links too?

RTE is the only company I know of... If you send him the specs of the lift it should get your angles back a lot closer to stock, but you have to send in your radius arms, which leaves your truck useless for about a weekish.

RTE 3". I'm also thinking of adding a 1" spacer once I get some 34"s and stuff. These pics really shows how smallish the BFG 265/75-16 seem after the lift.

2" RTE Stock Weight

I have recently added RTE 2" RR4s springs on the front and the RTE SLS Spacers on the rear (Keep it to yourself GEM!) The springs actually took the truck up 3" from where the stock springs were sagging. The center of the spacer actually measured 2.75".

I picked up a used set of 5 - BFG 245/75/16 Muds with 60% tread for $100. Otherwise I would have put 265/75s on. Cheap is a HELL OF A MOTIVATOR!

I have attached a couple of pre-lift trail pics and a post-lift driveway pic:

Personally, I think that the tires look perfect for that lift.

I'm a little puzzled right now, and wonder if all of you using big lifts3 inch and higher, bigger tires 265/75-16 and up have address the effect of these tires and lifts on gearing, brakes , axle strenght and driveline angles????

I know that some of you have intelligently modified their vehicles, but really wonder about the majority ?!?!

I'm an ex-Jeep owner that I had built big, and addressed all of those things. But I was one of the rare ones. I thought that lift mania and bigger tires with no consideration on adverse effects on all geometry and components strenght, were a Jeep thing.

I have a 2000 DII with a 3" lift and 33s. I have a 4.6, ARB air lockers with 4.11 gears, vented and slotted rotors, with an upgraded driveshaft. The last few things on my list of things to do are upgrade the axles and CVs (~ $1800) and get new Radius arms from RTE... It should be done then. Yea right...

Cool, you're one of those people for which I have the upmost respect.

As I said, I'm coming over from the Jeep crowd, and have this weird feeling of d?j?-vu. I thought for some reason, god knows why....That Land rover folks were much more mature when it came to vehicle modifications and wouldn't modify their vehicles without addressing the repercussions of their choices. Like you did!!!

Luckily the d2 is pretty receptive to lifts up to three inches and do not cause to much problems in terms of driveline vibes, at least in my experience. As for the gears, I went to 4.10's and switched to slotted and dimpled brakes with stainless lines and ebc pads. As for the axle strength, I am close to smashing my piggy bank for the heavy duty front axles.

dammit Reed! I'd sold myself on the 2" rte and you have to go posting those! Nice looking rig.

Go with a 3 inch. The difference between required mods from the 2in to the 3in is minimal to nothing depending on the truck.

I completely agree. I had the 2in before the 3, and I didn't change but the springs and shocks. Its not much more to go with the 3in. You will wish you had if you get the 2in.

Thanks for the compliments. and chuck thanks for the tires hahaha.. I need new ones

I am going thru my 3rd evolution. I just got my new RTE 5" springs in the mail today and will likely add another inch. I have a sagging 5" lift right now with 3" of spring and 2" of spacer. It's been fun and the hardest part was making the first snip on the sheet metal about 2 years ago. I am running my 2nd set of monsters (relatively speaking) which are Michelin XL's at 38". I have a Tom Woods shaft in the front and GBR in the back...running 4:11 with GBR axles in the back on a Detroit Locker. CV's unlimited in the front on a TruTrac. I probably could have supported two jeeps by now but once I went down the path that I am on....no turning back;-)

Hey MUD RIDE, what 3" springs do you have that are sagging? OME, BB, RTE? Just curious...

Sounds like one hell of a heavy duty machine you have there. I'd love to see some pics of her!!!

I remember talking to you about your truck last year at MAR I believe. I was the one with the silver d2 beside you with the 67 shasta camper w/ the yellow stripe. Unless there is someone else running 38" XL's (which I doubt) I enquired about your setup. You have a sweet truck with some monster meats!
