Honest question: why are they worthless? In theory they sound like a great idea to me, in regards of helping you identify when you need to quit pushing an obstical. For example, when I took this picture, before I got out, I thought the truck was at a much much steeper angle then it was.
35677_131163937039842_2071227798_n.jpg

But obviously after getting out of the truck, I found that I was just a huge puss and hung my head and slowly drove home. On the other hand, what if it was steeper then I thought, and I was hitting it sideways and thought that I could keep going, then had the truck tilt to far over and have a rock go through my window.

I know someone said that when your in those situations, your pissing yourself and dont bother looking at them, but wouldnt they help you identify early on, before you even start pissing yourself that you need to find a different line?

Please excuse my newbness, I come from cars smaller then your closet, and still dont have much real off road experience.
according to Lr these vehicles are capable of a 45 degree angle, I have had mine to just past 35 and I could lay my hand flat on the ground out the drivers side window and my driver's side mirror housing scraped the ground..
@ the land rover driving school for employees we went down inclines with such angle the vehicle literally had to be anchored to another while descending because of the danger of it floping over on the cab..
so needless to say many of us would never ever encounter such angles...
the angle at which you show your truck, is not even close to it's limits.. youre ok with out a level gauge.

Nathan, fish and Carlos are right. Theory and practice are often very far apart.

I've been busting your balls lately. It's not from being a cranky asshole (well, a little), but from a desire to help my fellow dwebbers save you from making the rookie mistakes that are all too easy to make. We've all made them to one degree or another.

It can be difficult to sort the bullshit from the gold. But make no mistake, there is gold here. Especially in the older threads. Every issue that you'll have, every modification that you'll consider has been beaten to death, buried, exhumed and then beaten some more.

Ball busting will continue until pictures of vehicles with sunroofs taped closed and spare tires ratchet strapped to suit cases on top of roof rack baskets suction cupped in place are no longer posted. What is going on here?

Honda,

Please do not buy another truck that doesn't work because you see dollar signs where the bumpers are. Parting a vehicle takes way too much time and effort. I predict the parts you would sell would be the rear bumper, nobody wants the front, the sliders look like an off brand, the diff guards might make you $25, the steering stabilizer relocation thing is not worth enough. The only other parts you'd probably end up removing would be the rear axles and diff. Unless it's packing some form of traction aids in the diffs it would probably net slightly above what you'd have bought it for leaving you with just a dirty piece yard art unless you hide it in your "stable".

Don't talk down to me.

If I want to buy the truck I will, using my own judgement; if I don't think it's worth it I won't. Either way, I'll handle everything on my part and come here if I feel I need some guidance with the trucks.

That Outback info is priceless though, from what I hear he does good work and hopefully lockers lie underneath

But guys, I need a phone call to even begin talking about obtaining the truck first, lol. I'll let you all know

Is the tech question here why the phone isn't ringing?

You're either trying to poach the truck or you've never parted one. Your assumptions and numbers are way off. Those diff gaurds go for $50-75 each just as an example.

Meh. I parted a 90 when I lived in the UK. It sucked and it was full county spec w/ a really nice interior(which I am still stuck with). I suppose I don't value a diff guard the same and could be way off on the price but I swear I bought a pair of new SG ones a long time ago for around $75 total(6+ years ago so my memory may be off). I have no intention of poaching this truck. I have a boat load of similar parts sitting around that nobody has bought or even low balled on similar to the parts on this truck he's looking at(TJM front bumper, HD rear axles, two ARBs w/4.11s, sliders). The only thing that was an easy sell was the front axles and 3" springs. Just trying to offer advice to this dude who keeps on spending money and is a student.

Those sliders don't look as thick as RTEs to me. They look about 1/2 as wide.

You're selling ARB's with 4.11's?

They probably haven't sold because you're too lazy to clean them off and put a pinion flange on one of them...

Yeah. I suppose when I really care I will do that. Not needing to sell them keeps me from spending time doing that. The springs sold fairly quickly even dirtier, though.

Do you think you're some kind of mentor to me? I'll handle my own shit, I promise I don't need your subpar advice
