Looking for any idea of value

Good evening all!

I was just kind of curious what the learned members here would say the value of a 1996 D1 manual trans truck is? One popped up on my local Craigs list 154K miles, body looks ok, interior, who know or cares I usually just rip the carpet out any how. They are asking $2100, in my world that's kind of high, but a standard is pretty rare. Just looking for a ball park idea, D1's here (Colorado west of the big D) run $500 up to $3K or so. I sold my gas '95 to my buddy when I got his TDI. Just toying with getting a stand by.

Im no manual d1 expert although I drive one - I was offered 12,500 for mine and I turned it down - I would think overall condition is most important - interior - maintanence - off road extras then stick if you want one

$12.5 for an XD is different than $12.5k for a 5 speed. Condition is the determining factor. Personally $2100 would be OK if mechanical condition checks out and they have some records for engine maintenance etc. I don't see manual adding much to value so $2100 should be a halfway decent truck mechanically but probably not cosmetically.

I know the one you're talking about from the ad. I think it's kind of hard to say, it's not in great shape but when is the last time you saw a D1 on CL that wasn't completely annihilated? Actually there was one a few weeks ago in Aspen with 50k on it that looked really good but I think they wanted 9kish. I wonder if it sold.

There were a few things that stood out to me. Why only rebuild one swivel ball? ME title, missing speakers, and oil change listed in ad (that should just be expected). PS side carpet looked stained, I'd make sure the core wasn't leaky. Maybe some bargaining chips?

Well I looked at the Disco in question, interior is above average for age and not smoked out (a deal breaker for me). Drive train seems solid no huge leaks. Body is pretty straight, tires are to big with no lift. The current owner is going to keep his RRC. I would say, considering that most D1's left are hammered shit, it's priced about right. I am going to think on it. I drive my personal cars/trucks about 5K miles a year total, I need another/spare D1 like a hole in the head in all honesty.

Just offer below his asking. Most individuals on Craigslist are reasonable from my experience. As long as the seller isn't hocking a Toyota Tacoma or Land Cruiser of any vintage they will come down in price. Even $400 lower is almost 20% less than asking price.

Yeah that's what I did, we agreed on a price, pending a closer inspection (it was dark) and a test drive ( I just took a few minutes to put my eyes on it while at work). We'll see in a couple of days.
