If any of you still have some kicking around let me know and I'll take them off your hands for under a $100. Thank you.

I have mine pulled off an 03, they need to be painted but are structurally sound.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you some pics.

How are they attached (I believe its a glue-type substance).. whats the best way to get them off, and then whats the best way to reattach them? I want to pull mine one day soon, and sand and paint them, then put them back on..

From what I've read on the boards the flares are held on by factory adhesive(sticky tape) and screws from underneath. I plan on using the same method after trimming my DI fenders for my new Maxxis big horn MTs (235/85R16). Would like a little more space for the tires.

They're attached with a double sided tape. Best way to get them off is start with one side and gently yank them off without messing up your paint.

I think reattaching would be a pain as the double sided tape stays on both the flare and the body. Meaning double the cleanup to ensure proper readhesion and fitment. It took me about two hours to remove all the adhesive from the truck using a blow dryer and goo gone. I understand someone makes a felt wheel attachement for a rotary or drill that makes quick work of the adhesive and is available at body shop supply stores.

I personally think it would be easier to slide some paper behind the flare, mask the truck and sand and paint them while attached. Or better yet leave them off.

all the flares are good for is ruining the paint underneath

While i do somewhat agree..... and see your point 100% - they would actually help a lot in a very light rub with a tree or rock off road. The fender is stuck out there from the rest of the panels and a light scuff would not matter much to the plastic where as it would crease/scratch the metal very quickly.

So, they have a decent purpose.... that said I think they are not going to do all that much really. And a light scuff adds character right?!

1speed,

Please see attached pics and let me know if interested. I'm out of town until Monday night, I'll get back with you then.

I tried my best to show the fading on the upper area.

I gave mine to a guy here for the cost of shipping. They're just cheap plastic and if you've pulled them off, you don't want em. Anybody charging anything near $100 is just gouging their discoweb bro ...

I've got a disco I and recently repainted the plastic bumper caps with Krylon fusion. It sprays on really well and adheres to plastic. They look brand new and now there isn't a need for detailing them to make them look nice. I imagine the spray paint would work great on the flares.

That's what I've been planning on doing for the past 2 or 3 years, but for some reason, everytime I pass by the spray paint aisle, I can never find Fusion in black! They always have all the other colors, but black is out of stock, this is at home depot, lowes and sears! I need to step it up and search harder..
