Went in to the local LR dealer yesterday and asked them for a price on a LR Factory Warranty extention past my 4 yr 50k warranty on my '03 disco. They said that LR does not offer a factory warranty but gave me some 3rd party info.

Either these guys don't know what end is up or is it true LR may have discontinued ext warranties????

Any ideas....and if some knows what would approx terms and prices be??

Thanks

I just got my 86k/3 or 4 extra year warranty in february from LR.. so I think your dealership is being ignorant, or they might have recently discountinued it?! Call another dealer up. There was a thread in the Disco Tech section a few weeks ago with a lot more info about this: check it out here

I think whats going on is that LR will give you an extended warranty IF you are purchasing a "Land Rover Certified Used" Vehical...

otherwise they will "Sell you" 3rd party warrantee if you want to cover your rig past the factory warranty...

i was told that many of the companies that used to cover LR will no longer write policies for LR's due to the fact that LR had something like a 600% loss on polices written against them...

my guess is that LRNA knows this and is not foolish enough to write an extended policy against their own cars unless it will help dealerships sell a new/used vehical....

the prices i got to extende my P38 warranty out to 7yr 70K miles was a whopping $4,500

OUCH

I think we can sum up my dealership experience as ignorant! I know LR offers the warranty, certified used vehicles only. Seriously, charge me $100.00 and certifiy the vehicle and then sell me the warranty.

I had a '99 DII and had a third party warranty on with Hal Moses. While they were great to deal with, they weren't the dealership. If I can't get the LR warranry or at least get it at a reasonable price then Hal is where I would go.

The reason I am doing this now, is that I have heard that with the LR3 coming in much higher in price than the previous Disco's, the warranty prices will go up accordingly....???

Who knows?? Thanks for the input.
