I just bought my wife an LR3, Heavy Duty with rear locker, and am trying to find out what a dash button does.

It is just to the right of the Audio System display, and has the power icon with telephone button. Is this a blue-tooth, or a standard button?

Before you blast me, I have read the owner's manual, reference guide, all the little books which came with it, along with searching previous threads. The manuals just refer to in car telephones with not much information.

If anyone can help out, I thank you in advance.

p.s. I kept the disco 1 for me, and it will soon be getting many more upgrades.

What year is the LR3? If it's a 2005, the button does nothing.
If it's an early 2006, the button does nothing.
(The rest of the world received bluetooth/telephone before the US did, which is why there is a non-working button).
If it's a late 2006+, you may have the bluetooth option (that's when it became available).
Do you have Navigation?
If not, look at the roof of your car. Do you have a shark fin? If yes, you have bluetooth. I can help you from there. (Cars with Nav always have the fin, but nav doesn't necessarily mean bluetooth.)
You can also lift up your center console lid and see if there is a phone connector on the underside of the lid.

Redrover, I have an 06 with bluetooth. The button you are refering to allows you to bring up the phone capability on the infotainment center, also the green telephone button on RH side of steering wheel does the same thing.

Example... press button, infotainment display should say you have bluetooth enabled/disabled, dial number, hit the same button and call is in progress. If this helps... good, if not... sorry.

If I had to guess, it was placed there so the passenger could make/recieve calls also.

Thanks everyone, it is a 2005 without the "shark fin" so I'm guessing it doesn't do much.

It searches for a phone when the button is pressed and the radio is on, but otherwise just is a very random second way of turning the radio on if it is off.

By the way, I did find the instructional video on the Land Rover website which made me feel pretty dumb for asking the question in the first place.

Thanks again.

I have an '05 and it does nothing except make me want to find a way to link my phone into the system!
