I just saw one of their racks for the LR3 in person, the rack was impressive and was load rated at 400 pounds. It was made of aluminum, price seemed right and the customer was extremely satisfied with the customer service and the quality of the racks. thats his car in the attached picture.

I've been hearing some not-so-good things about Rover Racks. I was going to buy one of their D1 rear ladders, but I've been talked out of it.

I was hoping you would chime in, the rack looked great in person and the guy had nothing but good things to say about them. What have you heard?

Just shit talking, mainly. I have not seen one up close so I do not have an opinion.

There is a thread on Expedition Portal. It's one of those, "Oh, things have gotten better since the shop moved to another state" kinda things. Sounds like they made some total shit before, then moved locations and everything is all better now.

.......sounds like bullshit to me.

apparently the used to based out of the PNW, where quality sucked, then someone else bought the company and moved it to florida, where they've been trying to fix their reputation. i still wouldn't buy from them though.

$1000 for poor looking welds and a $25% restocking fee....on top of no warranty you MUST NOT accept the shipment if you want to refuse the quality.

So, you have to ask the UPS guy to stand there for a while as you unpack it, inspect every weld and mount it to be sure the alignment is correct?

Sounds like a great company to deal with....

None of this even begins to address some odd design issues and lack of flexibility.

I just got one of their racks and love it the rack is extremely sturdy and the high lift, shovel, and jerry can mounts work great

Heres a picture

Dude, loose those white covers and get the grills (and remove the Hella tabs).

What I'm not liking about this rack, at all, is the lack of front mounts.

I still think the factory expedition rack is the best looking.

it has front mounts mine weren't installed in the picture yet but they are now. And Hella Grills are on the way good suggestion on removing the hella tabs though. Andy was very helpful though on the install

I don't know how old that rack is or if it was made before they moved, but man does that picture make me balk at even considering one. The welds look like caulk.

They're actually off of my dads range rover supercharged and then powder coated semi-gloss black on 285/50R20 Cooper LTZ Zeon's i like them. and i appreciate all of your opinion's. But for me i picked Rover Racks rack for the strength (400lbs) compared to the expedition rack which is only rated for 119lbs. the hannibal rack is strong and looks good but doesn't come with light tabs like the expedition rack. i like the look of the rack and I'm sorry for the people who had bad experiences with them but personally i had a good experience with them especially costumer service wise and the rack was of good quality

the expeditin will hold more than 119 becuase the one on our loaner will hold me with no issues walking around on it all day long.

Seems to me the only thing that would limit the racks "pound rating" is the mounting points. As far as I can tell, both the Expedition and the Rover Rack mount the same way using the same mounting points.

Surly either rack will hold more than 400lbs.

I'd like to see a detailed pic of the front two mounts of the Rover Rack, though.

And I don't have personal experience with the expedition rack thats just what i read on the website.

I have no experience or opinion on Rover Racks, but for the Hannibal, the Front Runner light tabs work great, and use the same mounting technique of inserting M8 nuts into the slotted tracks. You can get them in the US from Equipt.

According to my local PD, in Illinois, roof lights have to either be disconnected, or completely covered while on the road. Perhaps this is the same for him.

That being said; I'd love to have the grills for mine.
