It's not really out of the ball park, cost wise. I bought a Hannibal rack from AB for about $1100, and it cost $400 to ship it. this is a larger, more robust rack that also has a lower profile. It needs flooring though, and tabs for lights, HiLift, spare tire mount, etc...

The good news is that it is being sold by the fabricator, who would probably add all those things if you were really interested.

Cheers,

NW

Yeah, that's the one. it's basically a 3/4 rack. I like it. I used a Thule cross bar and foot clamp system so the whole thing is very easy to remove for normal commuting, and snaps back on and locks in under 40 seconds. It weighs about 40 lbs or so, so I can physically lift it on and off by myself, and my wife just guides it into place.

Yeah, that's also what I meant ;)

$1,565 is way to much for that rack IMHO....

The SD rack for a Disco is something like $1499, and plenty of people bought them. The big question remains, are there enough LR3 owners who want an SD style rack for Urban Offroad to keep wanting to make them?

I do see more an more LR3s offroad, so it's possible that aftermarket offroad gear will start to sell well, and more will hit the market.

FYI, The factory rack fits, looks good, is quiet, and lists for under $850. Plus, it can be picked up locally, and that saves freight.

the factory rack looks like spaceship
Valid point you make there, but if you get the Kaymar rear bumper with twin spare tire mount, it would be a nice way to complete the intergalactic look of the D3.

I've been speaking to Derek at Urban Offroad since he lives so close to me. He stated that he will be cutting down production costs without affecting strength or quality. The savings will be passed onto his customers, so if you're in the market, visit his site soon for new price.

He also has the same rack for Toyota 4Runners, a rack for Defender 110s and very soon, another for D90s.
