My uncle just bought a new Ford Explorer, and I was looking under it and it looks strangely familiar to the LR3. Same frame design, same silly holes in the rear where the axle shafts go through the frame. Could they really share a plat form, or is that stupid holey frame shit Fords new theme with everything?

I thought the same thing. Ford redesigned there explorer after they purchased Land Rover from BMW. The 7 passanger design also looks like a barowed design. I dont belive its the same but alot of the design elements were used. towing 7,290 lbs more than the expedition

I noticed yesterday in traffic that they share the same goofy rear headrests as well.

I recently was with a friend that had a loaner LR3 in one day the loaner had three different things go wrong with, first two minor electrical issues. stupid radio and cruise control not working..the 3rd one it died and wouldn't start. But thats just like discovery I suppse...they all have issues...my main thing is I don't like the design. Don't seem as rugged to me.

51% of all service tickets opened on the LR3 are "user error". JD power does not take that into consideration when crushing Land Rovers on their IQS ratings. The Ford Explorer that shares the Land Rover designed frame only has 4 inches of wheel travel in the rear where the LR3 has 13.

I own an '05 and have gone through several of the "known" issues and had those repaired with no recurrence. The only persistent issue is the #$%$ parking brake. Anybody have a manual conversion idea yet?

Which by the way work great and hardly ever get fucked up! Ford took one of the best design features of land rover and threw it out the window, and now you all get stupid LR3 parking brakes.
