For the past couple months, off and on, my 2016 LR4 has been giving me a warning saying "normal height only available". I have 1.5" Johnson Rods on it. I haven't really been noticing the compressor running more than it should, but I also haven't necessarily been paying attention to that. It was lowering and raising like normal when I'd get in and out of the car.

Well, yesterday morning I was driving and it flashed up "suspension fault max speed 30 mph". I slowed to a stop light and the car lowered to the bump stops. First time this has happened on this car. I got it to a local shop who works on these truck and he got it on jack stands back to normal height, but the compressor is super weak and won't fill, so we haven't checked for leaks or anything else yet.

I need advice on where to go from here. Replace compressor? Then what? Check for leaks? Go ahead and convert to coils? Any and all advice welcome. I genuinely want to know what you other LR owners do/would do/have done. Thanks!

Get a GAP tool or similar to pull your EAS codes. Have you had any codes previously? Check for leaks first - air bags, valve blocks and any fittings at the compressor. Ultimately if those don’t check out see the performance and temperatures of the compressor, then see if it yields any codes in being unable to lift the vehicle repeatedly

Well here’s the deal. Your compressor is more than likely the problem causing your normal height only message. The problem is that won’t cause it to lower itself normally.
So when the car lowers itself it’s really pissed off about something and it’s probably not the compressor.
So your mechanic should be able to read all the systems codes. Any scanner should do for your car.
