Side of the road....
Since we don't have an LR4 section yet, I guess I'll pose the question here.

I've had my LR4 for a year now, and unfortunately, the Pirrelli Scorpions that came on the truck are already crapping out on me. For those of you that have an LR4, or LR3 for that matter, what tires have you found to be a good all around tire in a 20" size? If this was my D2 with 16" wheel it would be a no brainer, lol, but these damn 20" wheels are a new area for me.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Kyle,

Has are the Michelin's for longevity? I love the Perelli Scorpions that came on the truck, but after 16.5K miles, they are about bald! For the money, you would expect them to last longer, lol.

Thanks for the help brother, I appreciate it!

I feel your pain Mike. The LR3 is a tire killer too. I decided to get an extra set of wheels to are great for off road and run the boring road tires that will get 60K the rest if the time.

Enjoy the adventure.

Yes michelins last waaaaay longer (hp's). Get an alignment at a dealer or reputable shop though if you think you have any uneven wear. The suspension is much better on the lr4 than the lr3. The pirellis suck.

If you want at performance, look into the ltx at/2. I have close to 50k on some and they are more than 50% left. More like 60% really. I don't know what sizes they come in but my dad also runs them on his king ranch f250 with 20's.

I put a set of GY Duratracks on mine, were awesome in the mud and rocks. But for a 20" would be bout a 33" for you, would have to get some johnson rods or spring spacers.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm running into with the 20" wheels on the Rover. I don't need anything all that aggressive, but a decent AT would be nice. As sacrilegious as it is, I very RARELY take the LR4 off-road (I know, I know, go ahead and flame, LOL), I have other things for trails!

The good thing is, I'm overseas right now, and SWMBO drives my S2000 most of the time, so the tires on the Rover are getting a break, at the moment, so I have a little time to figure out what I'm going to get. I'm really leaning towards the Michelin's as Kyle suggested.

Thanks for all the help Gents.

Check out the 20" Cooper Zeon LTZ's great all around offroad tire. I average 45-50k miles on each set. Good price, comfortable ride on and off road. And they now have a 20".

Those are good ones, just finished a set after 50K including minnesota snow and lots of time in the woods. Not rock crawlers, but neither are LR3/4 as much as others.

I'm also looking at some Bridgestone Duelers, tirerack.com has them for $960 for four, and also the Hankook Ventus something or others; I've been running Hankooks on my S2000 (RS3 for track days, and V12 EVO as DD), and I'm a big fan of their tires. I'll will post up my decision and impression on what I get when I get back for the middle east.

Duelers, meh

Hankook, stay away. It's not a Kia.

They may be good in cars but not suv's

So no go then on the Hankook SUV tires huh? Thanks, I've never used them; I was just going off my experience with their car tires (the RS3 and V12 are both phenomenal if anyone is looking for performance tires). Glad I didn't order the SUV versions then LOL.

I had Duelers on my D2 before I lifted it, and I was impressed with how well they performed in all conditions, and how long they lasted as well (I think I got 65K miles or so).

yeah.

like i said, michelins. I have driven all kinds of rovers on all kinds of tires and I put michelins on mine.

unless you are planning on wheeling it in stuff more than fire roads ect, then there is no need. 99.999% on road in rain, snow ect they do very well.

Plus going to a a/t really makes it handle like a bumbly truck vs what it already is.

Very good all around tire but that size sounds like it may not quite fit a stock lr4. might be close.

i have the bfg at and so far over 50,000 miles with easily another 20,000 left. I do rotate in the spare so that helps a lot.

Hi guys, just thought I'd put up what I did to my Discovery 4, you can fit 17" BMW X5 rims to your D3/4, they have the same 120PCD and centre hole size, all you need to do is get the appropriat lug nuts to suit and you can fit these

BFG KM2s 245/70/17 if you want good off road rubber, my old rubber were 265/70/17 Kumho KL78s

My D4, or as you call it LR4, mine is the 2.7L Turbo Diesel V6
