Ok, after reading several pages I'm still confused!!!!

What wires(solenoid) need to be plugged to make the lt 230 swap work in a RRC??? I undertsand the solenoid thing but some pics would definately clear things up. Are you suppose to loop the wires back to each other???? Only the alarm wire(which one are those???)

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

the wires to the neutral switch just need to be cut and spliced together. the temp sensor off the Borg warner on the back near the parking brake gets cut, but do not splice it, it shorts to show a red temp light in the dash. The speedo cable goes in the same place assuming the years are similar, and you should be good to go. I just did this over the winter, so pm me if you have ???
Check my threads on Pirate4x4 for some help as well, I found several threads htere to help.

Thanks,

Ok, so take out the lockout solenoid. ( Does it seperate from the base plate??)
The wires right beside it are for the alarm I presume.(Splice those to each other from the frame, are the wires/plug the same from BW to LT?)I should just be able to pull the "sensor" and fill with bolt+RTV, it should be dead with no power to it right?????

I'm thinking I could still use the lock button and fab a light in th dash for this.

Now cptyardho, what comes off the frame that has to be spliced together? I'm guessing you did all of them!(Lock-ou, temp(did you finish this?) and alarm? Same deal are the wires/plugs the same from BW to LT?
I'm doing this to a '91 but knowing Rover we probably have very similar set-ups.
(Your pics on pirate are mostly the BW case, right although I guess if you know where the wire ends you can follow it back!)
Thanks J

Correct all around on this one, you do not want it in there anyway, if the sensor goes, the truck will not let you shift hi/lo. I yanked the guts, filled it and put it back, then wired the leads together to turn the alarm off

Do not bother, see above

wiring stuff is the same, if the years of the tcases are similar. My replacement case had no spot for the temp sensor, so I cut the wires, but did not splice them. If you do, you get a temp light.

I just cut wires as I removed the case, and tied them off near by in case I needed them later. Total connections you should be dealing with
speedo cable- should come out of the old and into the new same way. If the case is out of a newer truck, like a DII, things change.
shift lock solenoid- pull, plug it and put it back or replace with a similar bolt. Wires connected together.
Temp sensor- replace if your new case has a spot, probably not. If not, just cut and tie up out of the way, DO NOT SPLICE.

What year is your truck, what year is the new case? There are other tips to think of when you get ready, just let me know. A friend here at our local dealership gave me several tips that made things much easier, once I figured out the basics.

Well,
I've actually got two cases one froma '87RRC and one from a '95 Disco. The 87 i' m using as my guinea pig/parts one the '95 will go into is a '91 with BW.

The light I was talking about is the CDL light. ( I might try to wire this up as I'm trying to do the 2wd conversion to the LT. Then the light would work as a 4wd light.)

How did you fill the solenoid hole? What I mean is what did you do to the part that actuall y hols the solenoid?(Plate with 4 bolts) Try to pry the solenoid out, grind the solenoid tip off so that it doesn't do anything ....)

The hi/low sensor right beside it is for the alarm. Plug with bolt. Wires from the frame get spliced together(This shuts off the alarm---right) DO NOT SPLICE THE LOCKOUT WIRES TOGETHER--- is this right, I thought that the key switch had something to do with this, wasn't that what someone was talking about on Pirate???

I don't want to have to lift this thing more than once. That's why I want to be crystal clear on the wires!!! Of course there might be room to get to them from underneath or through the dash.. not sure!!!)

What are some of those tricks you learned???? ( like putting the case up w/o the input gear in!!!!) I think that is the easiest way to go!

my solenoid just threaded into the case from the top with a locking nut for depth, no other bolts necessary
