I have a 1998 Discovery Series I with a 4.0 litre V-8 and automatic transmission (ZF).

Do I have a LT230Q or LT230T transfer case?

Odds are Q but I have seen 98s with the non-Q. Check the number on the back of it and it will tell you.

Ron,

I looked on the back of it and it did not say 230T or 230Q. Don't know if I was looking in the right place though. Is there a certain number that corresponds to each or does it explicitly state 230T or 230Q?

Thanks for your help.

Dude . . .

It will not say LT230Q or LT230T

It will have a serial number

38DXXXXXXX is q for sure

32DXXXXXXX is T

If you find the digits and search on google it will tell you if it is not a 38 or 32. If all else fails the parts book has the prefixes.

I finally got under my truck and wrote down the numbers on the back side as well as on the bottom of the t-case.

Unfortunately it does not begin with a 32 or a 38. Also I put the number in google and got nothing.

Would anyone with a parts book let me know if I have a LT230T or LT230Q? Also does it matter which one I buy to replace my existing t-case in the case I need a replacement?

Here is the info from the back side of the t-case:

A10

370715627G

and then on the bottom it states: FRC5145
